Summer or Fall Shopping?

www.hm.com/us/department/HOME

H&M Home is having an end of season sale. Yes, I know it is only mid-summer.  Does it drive anyone else crazy that retailers already have the fall merchandise out? I still haven't bought a pair of shorts or a new T-shirt and they have the ankle boots and puffy vests with faux fur collars displayed!
The prices are great and the stuff is fun! In the above picture the linen palm pillow and turquoise beach towel are only $10 each. The rollup picnic blanket in the same trendy pattern is $12 and the cute paper products are $2 for 10 for the plates and are $1 for 10 for the cups

Pineapple bag $4

Green cotton table runner $5
Butterfly mug $4

Organic cotton tablecloth, $10
The products are very Anthropology/Urban Outfitters/Crate and Barrel in design but much cheaper. There is something for everybody! These are just some of the Summer sale items. They already have the Fall collection online but I can't think about Fall just yet. How about you?
Are you in a Summer or a Fall mood?

panama hats

Panama hats may not be new this season but they seem to be popping up everywhere.
They're great for the summer because of their lightweight material.
And I love how cool looking they are too.  You can wear them for bad hair days, to the beach and even for a night out.

Get yourself one...I am!
And you can find them at J. Crew FactoryUrban Outfitters and H&M.

drawn to the fire...pit

Monday night my friend K invited me over for dinner and a walk. Afterwards we sat by her fire pit and had a cocktail.
It was the most relaxed I've been in a really long time.
Listening to the wood crackle and pop, watching the fire flare up
then burn down.
It got me thinking about the backyard fire pit and the different styles and
the elements needed.

Moody oasis.

Built in backyard simplicity.

Modern, gas, concrete on a roof deck.

Mediterranean getaway.

California retreat.
Modern and rustic hideaway.

There are all kinds of fire pits, free standing, built in, modern, rustic, gas, propane....you need to decide what fits your style and budget.

Some accessories for the yard:
String lights brighten the yard, a basket of washable blankets to keep everyone warm, and bunches of dried sage to burn (supposedly keeps the bugs away).

Of course you need comfortable chairs to sit around the fire.
There is always the popular adirondack chair or my fave the butterfly chair.
But really, any comfy chair will do! It's all about the fire!

Happy Fire Pitting!

you say tomato, i say....

Tomatoes, I love them!
Now that we can get good ones from hot houses year round there is no reason to shun them out of season.  They make me think of summer all year.  There is nothing like a juicy, ripe tomato
anytime of the day.
Here are some yummy, pre-dinner or skip-dinner-all-together recipes to try.  Pair them with a glass of white wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or an Italian Chianti and dream of summer....

Warm tomato and mozzarella bruschetta.
Check out this recipe here.

Roasted tomato and ricotta crostini.

This one is so delish and easy from Martha Stewart, you can find the recipe here!
Enjoy!
